Bright prospects: Sammy and Simi join X3M Music
Two new acts have joined Praiz at X3M Music as the label plans a
takeover in 2014.
Pop singers Simisola ‘Simi’ Ogunleye and Sammy Yakubu have been unveiled
as the latest additions to the label which is known for its
unconventional style.
For ardent music lovers in Nigeria, Simi’s name should easily ring a
bell; the 25 year-old has been making the rounds for a minute. A few
years ago she released a debut album with the wedding themed single ‘I
do’. She recently released her ‘Restless’ EP to critical acclaim.
Sammy has also been buzzing in the underground for a while; his 2012
mixtape ‘A Mixtape and then Some’ got the teen female folks’ attention
for a moment.
X3M Music will be looking at recreating similar success stories for the
Pop singers as was done for Praiz who joined the top notch label in
February 2011.
‘Simi is the next big thing. She is a great addition to the X3M Music
family. Sammy is an Atomic bomb waiting to explode. This has been a long
time coming and we’re excited for him. Let’s go make history’,
Folashade Anozie, A&R Manager X3M Music says.
Praiz who is currently in Las Vegas had this to say; ‘It gives me so
much joy to be a part of other people’s journey, to be able to inspire
and guide new singers coming up in this business.
Both Sammy and Simi are presently working on their singles from their
debut and sophomore albums respectively.
X3M Music is a frontline record label founded by Steve Babaeko in 2008.
The label in the past paraded the likes of Soul singer Etcetera and
Hip-Hop artiste Overdose, working with others like Nneka and Ade
Bantu....
